TORONTO police have arrested a 25-year-old suspect after a white van struck a number of pedestrians in Toronto in an apparent terror attack.
The suspect has reportedly named as Alek Minassian, he was allegedly known to Police and authorities are considering the incident as a terrorist attack.
Witnesses told Canadian media that that the driver was travelling at around 45 miles per hour, “crumbling up people” and taking the action “intentionally”.
Up to nine fatalities have been reported so far following the incident.
The driver was apprehended soon after the incident and he has been described as being “Middle-Eastern” in appearance, arrested a short distance away.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressed condolences as he was heading into question period. He said he was just learning of the incident.

“Our hearts go out to everyone affected,” Trudeau said.
Toronto Mayor John Tory said his thoughts were with those affected.
“My thoughts are with those affected by this incident and the frontline responders who are working to help those injured.
I have offered any and all assistance that the city can provide to police to help this investigation.”
