ALEK Minassian, the suspect who killed 10 and injured dozens more by driving a van into pedestrians in downtown Toronto in Canada has been charged with murder and 13 counts of attempted murder.
Alek Minassian of Richmond Hill, Ontario appeared in court where he was charged with 10 counts of murder and 13 counts of attempted murder.
Minassian was arrested after a brief standoff with Toronto police officer close to the scene of the attack.
Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders told reporters Monday night that, while the man they arrested insisted he had a gun, no gun was found.
Police said they are still investigating the motive for the incident.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said there was no evidence to suggest the attack was related to terrorism.
