FRENCH President Emmanuel Macron has said that he has “proof” that Syrian President Bashar-Al-Assad used chemical weapons on his own people.
The French president said in a TV interview on French TV: “We have proof that chemical weapons, at least chlorine, were used, and that they were used by the Bashar al-Assad regime.”
“We cannot allow escalation [of the armed struggle to] take place in the region,” he added.
Macron also said that France would make a decision “in due time” along with Britain and the U.S. on how to respond to the growing Syrian crisis.
Macron confirmed that he had talked Donald Trump relating to the evidence and said “Our teams work closely together.”
President Trump yesterday told Moscow to “get ready” for incoming US missiles.
Britain and America were looking ever more likely to go to War in Syria after Prime Minister Theresa May ordered UK submarines within range of Bashar al-Assad’s Syrian forces late last night.
A source told the Telegraph. “We are moving subs in, we are doing everything necessary operationally to do that.
“If any action is going to happen it is going to happen before Monday because once you start having a debate about it, it will be very difficult for Number 10 to do anything.”
Today, Mrs May held a War Cabinet in Number 10 Downing St to get authorisation from her cabinet to strike Syria.
Sources say the Cabinet will back Theresa May and the action will not face a parliamentary vote.
Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said: “More bombing, more killing, more war will not save life. It will just take more lives and spawn the war elsewhere.”
Mrs May said “all the indications” are that Assad was responsible for Saturday’s chemical attack in Douma.
The news comes after Mrs May put RAF fighter jets on standby at the British RAF base in Cyprus on Tuesday.
According to a source, British Military chiefs have also drawn up plans for a joint strike with America.
The President tweeted: “Get ready Russia, because they will be coming, nice and new and ‘smart!’ You shouldn’t be partners with a Gas Killing Animal who kills his people and enjoys it!”
Today, Mr Trump said: “Never said when an attack on Syria would take place. Could be very soon or not so soon at all! In any event, the United States, under my Administration, has done a great job of ridding the region of ISIS. Where is our “Thank you America?””
