BIG BRO’s BIG SURPRISE: Rylan was on holiday when BB called to confirm return of Big Brother

RYLAN Clark was on a solo holiday when ‘Big Brother’ bosses called him about the return announcement.

The 33-year-old star – who won ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ in 2013 and went onto host sister show ‘Bit On The Side’ for the next five years – has reflected on the moment he was relaxing in Barcelona when he got a phone call letting him know that they were going public with the big news that the reality TV favourite is coming to ITV2 in 2023.

Appearing on Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett’s ‘Dish’ podcast, he said: “I got the call when I was out there and I was like, ‘Right’, and I was like, ‘What now?’

“No, I got the call to say, ‘We’re letting you know that we’re announcing.’

“I knew it was happening… But it was like the formal, ‘We’re just letting you know it’s going to be tonight.”

Rylan admitted he hasn’t “let go” of ‘Big Brother’ yet, and he’s always been hoping for a return since Channel 5 decided to bring its run to an end in 2018.

However, he added: “It’s a new era of ‘Big Brother’. I don’t know what’s going to happen. I know Emma’s said that she’s not coming back.

“I don’t know if it will be any of us that used to be there.

“So I, I’ve made no secret, and I’m still not going to make a secret, of course I’d love to go back. It was such a big part of my life.”

Meanwhile, Rylan would also love to get involved when ‘Eurovision’ comes to either Glasgow or Liverpool next year with the UK hosting on behalf of Ukraine.

He said: “It was like, ‘Oh my God it’s happening.’ You know like that meme, when it’s like, ‘It’s happening guys, it’s happening!’

“It’s like, Scott’s on the phone, like ‘Who do we need to row with?’ And I’m like, ‘I don’t know’!

“Like we’re all, everyone is like having a breakdown. Then I’ve got Big Brother going, ‘Big Brother’s coming back’. It’s like a gay dream! Big Brother and Eurovision in one year!”

‘Dish’, hosted by Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett is available on all podcast providers now.
