BORIS Johnson has been urged to “take back control” of the Tory leadership race and “fight like Churchill” by Lord Cruddas, Politicalite can reveal.
Cruddas – a Tory Lord who is backing the Boris on the Ballot campaign has said he is happy to foot the bill so members can get a say on Boris Johnson’s future.
Speaking exclusively to Politicalite last night, Lord Cruddas said: “Boris has his destiny in his own hands.”

“He can ask the members through a restructuring of the board whether they still want him as their leader, to fight the next General Election.”
“It’s up to Boris to decide whether he wants to fight for the 14 million people who voted for him or move on with his life.”

In a direct message to the PM, Cruddas added: “Over to your Prime Minister, this is your Churchill moment.”
18,000 SIGNED PETITION
A whopping 18,000 members signed the Boris on the Ballot campaign – one of the largest member petitions in Tory Party history.
Some of the votes were “crank votes” says Cruddas, but he believes that at least 12,000 registered Conservative Party members have added their name – well in excess of the 10,000 needed.
“Well we got around 18,000 signed petitions but not are all party members and there are some crank ones.” said Cruddas.
“But taking the toxic ones out we believe there is at least 12,000 signed members on petition so well in excess of 10,000 needed.” He added.
It’s now up to Boris Johnson to make the next move.
