LONDON’S Oxford Street and Oxford Circus tube was in lockdown tonight after reports of a supicous item.
Police have told the public to ‘avoid the area.’
Eyewitness Olivia Lang tweeted: “Just finished work to find police have condoned off #OxfordStreet junction and are shouting at people to keep back. Still unclear what’s going on.”

The Met said: “Road closures are in place around #OxfordStreet #OxfordCircus while police assess a suspicious item. Tube closures are also in place. Please avoid the area.”
The Met later added: “UPDATE – The item in #OxfordCircus #OxfordStreet has been declared non-suspicious & the incident stood down. Road closures will be lifted & tubes re-opened. Thanks for your patience.”
