AN AIRCRAFT – believed to be a helicopter, but as of yet unconfirmed – has crashed into a building in Midtown Manhattan, NYPD officials have confirmed.
Emergency crews responded to the incident at 787 Seventh Ave today after witnesses reported hearing a loud bomb.

The roof of the building was still smoldering an hour ago.
Smoke was seen billowing from the top of the 54-story building as police ordered the evacuation of several surrounding buildings.
As of yet, other than the pilot, there is no word on any other injuries.
Witnesses reported hearing a loud boom before flames erupted from the roof of the building, which houses the AXA Equitable Center.

Emergency services get to work whilst New York Police close-off the scene.
It is not clear what kind of aircraft was involved, but initial reports suggest it was a helicopter.
Emergency response teams still remain on the scene and the area has been evacuated.
Politicalite will update as the story develops.
