It is a constant source of irritation amoung voters that MP’s who get elected for one Party change Party and never feel the need to renew their mandate with the electorate. Chuka Umunna, for example, has changed Party twice since his election as a Labour MP for Streatham in 2017.
However, one Brexit Party Prospective Parliamentary Candidate is proposing to put an end to this farce. Dale Prime, the PPC for Burton promises that, if elected he will introduce a Bill making a by-election legally mandatory if an MP defects:
If elected as an MP for the @brexitparty_uk at any future election.
I will propose legislation making it mandatory for a defecting MP to have to face a mandatory by-election.

Of course, our politics is broken, our Parliament unrepresentative of the people, etc, etc, but solving that goes beyond securing the Brexit that the British people voted for. It will need a sweeping program of democratic reform to be brought in that includes proposals such as this and electoral reform, etc, etc.
