The British public has roundly condemned Theresa May and the governments handling of Brexit.
A poll for Sky News found an astonishing 90% of those polled, Brexiteers and Remainers alike, thought that the way Brexit had been handled was a national humiliation. Even more damaging for the political class, 34% agreed that the government and MP’s are to blame as opposed to 26% who blame the EU.
The news comes as Theresa May is to make a statement to the nation tonight at 8pm. Normally, these statements are quite bland and uneventful but speculation significant news could be announced has been heightened by the fact that beforehand she is set to meet leaders of the opposition parties.
Quite what May intends to do now is anyone’s guess. Possibilities range from the calling of a General Election, the proroguing of Parliament to her announcing her own resignation (possibly in the event that her deal is passed).
Meanwhile, Donald Tusk announced that the EU would be prepared to consider a short extension to the Brexit deadline but only if Parliament backs the sell-out Withdrawal Agreement.
