Speaking in Singapore, Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt has revealed the governments true thoughts about a ‘No Deal’ Brexit.
A clean Brexit COULD cause “disruption”, which “could last some time”, Hunt said, adding: “That is not something any government should wish on its people.” Emphasis on the operative word. Clearly, Project Fear is continuing apace.
Hunt continued: “I think she [Mrs May] will find a way to get this deal through Parliament and think that is what the British people would want.”
Clearly, Mr Hunt is completely out of touch with what the British public actually want. Since its publication, not one single opinion poll has found a majority in favour of the Withdrawal Agreement. Indeed, one of the few things that unites Brexiteers and Remoaners is their common loathing of the deal May has put on the table.
John Whittingdale, former Culture Minister, is surely correct when he says; “The Government is raising fears about the consequences of no deal in the hope it would put pressure on MPs to support the Prime Minister’s deal.”
We will soon find out if May’s great gamble will pay off or not and whether she will succeed in effectively ending Brexit by passing her deal…..
