Goalkeeping legend and committed Brexiteer Peter Shilton has dismissed Prime Minister Theresa May’s sell-out deal.
Shilts, speaking to Nigel Farage on his LBC radio show, said that he was “gobsmacked” by how much of a Remainer May is:
“I have got to say that I listened to an interview from Theresa May before the last referendum and I was gobsmacked because she was such a Remainer, she wouldn’t have Brexit in any way.
She has negotiated this deal, which as far as I am concerned, we don’t get anything really from Europe, and we have got to give them £39billion.
We are talking now about this backstop, we are going to be in Europe is we accept this but we are going to have no control, no say, we are going to be worse off in my opinion.”
He continued to explain that he backed Brexit as being in the EU places Britain in a servile position:
“We are not an independent country, we are governed by their rules, the immigration laws and things like that we have no control over it.
I think it would best for us to be an independent country, make our own laws in the future, more control over immigration, we are always going to have immigration and we are always going to trade with the EU, but in the future, I think it is better if we leave.”
