THATCHER’S REVENGE: Pro EU Backstabber Heseltine BOOTED By Tories

HE WAS ONCE CONSIDERED THE BRUTUS OF PARLIAMENT FOR HIS DIRECT INVOLVEMENT IN BETRAYING HIS OWN PARTY LEADER, MARGARET THATCHER. BUT NOW IT SEEMS THAT THE IRON LADY AND PROVEN EUROSCEPTIC IS HAVING THE LAST LAUGH.

AS OF yesterday afternoon, Lord Michael Heseltine – former Deputy Prime Minister and staunch EU-lover – has had the Tory whip suspended after bizarrely ignoring his role as an ambassador to promote loyalty to his party and saying that he would vote LIBDEM at the European elections on Thursday 23rd May.

The long-serving peer should have known that “publicly endorsing the candidates of another party is not compatible” with taking the whip, a Conservative spokesperson said. (A no-brainer, really).

Tory Heseltine (LibDem supporter).

They confirmed that “this will be reviewed if he is willing to support Conservative candidates at future elections”. Until then, technically, Michael Heseltine is no longer a member of the Party he loves; the party he stabbed his own leader in the back for in the hope to one day control.
Having the whip taken away means a parliamentarian is effectively expelled from their party and that they must sit in Parliament as an independent until the whip is restored.

As Margaret Thatcher’s initially close former ally.

Heseltine came under fire for declaring in an article for The Sunday Times that: “I cannot, with a clear conscience, vote for my party when it is myopically focused on forcing through the biggest act of economic self-harm ever undertaken by a democratic government.”
Heseltine was also heavily criticized over his public comments that only old people wanted Brexit.
The 86-year old, who served in the governments of Margaret Thatcher and John Major and was also an adviser to David Cameron, said he was following his conscience and the Conservative Party remained his “natural home”.

His comments however angered Brexiteers in his party, with MPs suggesting he had broken internal rules by endorsing another party.Speaking to Emma Barnett on BBC Radio 5 live, Andrew Bridgen suggested “there really is no place for someone with his views in the Conservative Party”.

“I find Lord Heseltine’s arrogance that he knows better than the majority of the electorate really quite breathtaking.”
