THE CHAIRMAN FOR THE ISLAMIC COUNCIL OF HUMAN RIGHTS HAS APPEARED IN A DEBATE ON RUSSIA TODAY, ARGUING FOR THE BAN OF A NEW MOVIE EXPOSING INTERNET CENSORSHIP OF RIGHT WING FIGURES.
IN THE interview, broadcast today on Russian State-controlled RT, the confused Cleric calls Douglas Murray and Majjid Nawaz ‘Hate Preachers’ and accuses Tommy Robinson of inciting terrorism, before calling for the ban of the You Cant Watch This movie, starring an exclusive interview with Robinson himself.
Caolan Robertson, producer of the film, insisted that following the Cleric’s own logic, he must demand that the Qur’an – a text that has led to unthinkable bloodshed, brutality, and intolerance – be censored as well.
When challenged by the interviewer, who asked: “The Westminster bridge attacker quoted the Quran, should this also be banned?” the Muslim Cleric, named Massoud, refused to answer, and in fact went on to reveal that he hasn’t even seen the movie he is demanding to be censored.
Featuring some of the most popular voices in conservative and alternative media, You
Can’t Watch This explores the effects of social media censorship on our personal and
professional lives and its implications for Free Speech in America and the UK.
The movie gives a rare insight into the effects of censorship, and includes revelations about leading political figures, including: Alex Jones, the Founder of Infowars who states he was “made the straw man so that once the public took the bait everyone else would fall”, Gavin McInnes, the co-founder of Vice who “had to pay cop-buddies to sit in my front room with a gun all night”, and Paul Joseph Watson,
one of the most popular cultural commentators on Youtube who “checks [his] account every
morning before even turning on his phone” – just to “make sure it’s still there”.
Popular Conservative commentator Laura Loomer also describes in the movie how being banned from every platform and losing her income after her name was tarnished “makes you want to kill yourself”.
As previously reported by Politicalite, the documentary provides the last video interview Tommy Robinson gave before being banned from Facebook, where he describes the strange effect of being more “afraid of [his] own government than what some jihadi is going to do”.
George Llewelyn-John, Director of the film said: “These are important stories from a
varied and often opposing group of conservatives. Very few people will agree with all of
them, but regardless of their beliefs these people have a right to be included on platforms
that are becoming more and more the place we live our daily lives”
