PRESIDENT Donald Trump warned Facebook last night that he was ‘We are monitoring and watching, closely!!’ following the banning of dozens of right-wing Voices on social media.
Mr Trump tweeted: “I am continuing to monitor the censorship of AMERICAN CITIZENS on social media platforms.”
“This is the United States of America — and we have what’s known as FREEDOM OF SPEECH!”
“We are monitoring and watching, closely!!”
The move came after right-wing voices such as Paul Joseph Watson, Milo and Alex Jones were BANNED from Facebook who branded them ‘dangerous’.
Watson also known online as ‘Prison Planet’ – the well-known YouTuber that reaches millions of people with his edgy and on-point political rants – attacked Facebook’s attempt to silence voices on the right.
Donald Trump Jr. also hit back at the ‘Tech Masters of the Universe’ tweeting: “The purposeful & calculated silencing of conservatives by @facebook & the rest of the Big Tech monopoly men should terrify everyone.”
“It appears they’re taking their censorship campaign to the next level.”
“Ask yourself, how long before they come to purge you? We must fight back.” added Trump Jr.
RIGHT WING PURGE
Dozens of U.S. and European online political voices stood up for Watson and demanded action on Facebook’s censorship that even saw the page of Politicalite UK get deleted for reporting on British MEP candidate, Tommy Robinson in late April.
Breitbart’s Allum Bhokari tweeted: “This is the key point. Facebook will ban you for sharing Infowars links now, unless you’re condemning them.”
“It is openly punishing and rewarding users for their political opinions now.”
“This is a formula for censoring not just websites and personalities, but their supporters too”
Gad Saad added: “How much longer is this going to be tolerated? How much longer will we be held hostage? How much longer will people sit in cowardly apathy? You don’t like what @PrisonPlanet says, ignore him. Stop banning people. This is antithetical to a free society.”
Watson added: “The creepiest thing is not the bans, it’s the threat that anyone else will be banned for talking about the people who were banned.”
“That’s chilling. That’s giant corporations enforcing their own Communist Chinese-style social credit system.”
“And leftists love it.”
Not loosing is quick comedic swagger, Watson later Tweeted: “Russians buy a few Facebook ads.
Leftists: This is horrendous! This is election meddling! Democracy is at stake!
Facebook bans most of the people who helped get Trump elected.
Leftists (and boomers): Hur dur muh private company can do what it likes.”
Vice Tech journalist Tim Pool also blasted Facebook: “Very weird and the people who got banned or didn’t know before it happened.”
“I cannot stress how much of a dramatic escalation this is.”
“I don’t care whether you like these people or not this is going to rapidly radicalized many many people.”
Brittany Pettibone wrote: “Right-wingers are being purged from the internet, banned from donation platforms & their personal banks, defamed by the media, physically threatened & attacked, barred from visiting countries. How much more does censorship have to escalate before you step in? @realDonaldTrump”
Raheem Kassam had been leading calls for the Trump administration to wade in with ‘Executive Action’, he told Fox News’ Tucker Carlson earlier this week following his own 3-day ban for sharing content Censorbook deemed against its ‘community standards’.
