US doctors in New York have offered to ship experimental medication to sick Charlie Gard in the UK.
The facility in New York which cannot be named for legal reasons said they would admit the sick youngster if legal challenges regarding Charlie’s life-support and travel can be overcome.
A team of top US lawyers flew to the UK to help in the legal fight. Number 10, The UK Courts and the European Court of Human Rights have all refused to help – siding with medical experts.
The experimental drug is pending approval from the FDA (US Food and Drug Administration) and is not yet approved in the UK – it could be allowed in exceptional circumstances.
Charlie’s parents – Chris Gard and Connie Yates, have said they are being kept in the dark by medics at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Pope Francis gave Charlie a Vatican passport so he could be moved to Italy if necessary.
If Charlie becomes a citizen of the Vatican, he could potentially be moved legally a legal expert told Politicalite.
