BRITISH SPIRIT: Heroic Teacher Deliver Free School Dinners To Vulnerable Kids

HEROIC Teachers are delivering free school meals to kids who usually get free dinners in a bid to help those amid the Corona crisis.

A dedicated team of staff have been put in charge of delivering food over the normal school lunchtime, Derby Telegraph reports.

Headteacher Dave Shaw said it’s “vitally important” to support the children in isolation.

He added: “While we remain open, although that could change, we’ve got a lot of children who are deciding to self-isolate at home and would normally receive free meals.

“We are in an area of high-deprivation so we want to ensure the kids still get some meals, it’s as if they’re on a school trip, we are doing them packed lunches.”

The Sun reported that scheme started yesterday and has already delivered lunches to 15 grateful families in the area.

Parents are able to request the service over the school’s Facebook page – with the school now planning to donate its free breakfasts to a community kitchen opposite.

From there, families will be able to collect a hamper made from the food on a daily basis if needed.

The school isn’t the only one in the UK to start offering a meals on wheels-style service for its pupils.
