CONCERNS are growing that HM Treasury wants the Royal Navy to ditch its new flagship carrier the HMS Elizabeth.
Government insiders are concerned about the nation’s overall defence bill.
A defence source said: “Bean counters don’t understand that in a crisis you must have two active in the fleet for maintenance and training.”
The rumours have been strenuously denied by the MOD which insists HMS Elizabth, due to set sail to China in 2021 on its maiden voyage is still full steam ahead.
UKIP, however, warned that this showed urgent the need to leave the EU without delay is:
Beyond the concerns of the bean counters, even with an active, well supplied fleet, the Royal Navy, like the rest of our military is to be absorbed into the EU Defence Union AKA the EU Army.
The UK must leave the EU before it is completely subsumed.https://t.co/nM6KTMadCY

Certainly, it seems with every passing day that the prospect of an EU Army marches further into view.
