As soon as any football team gets a sniff of success a legion of glory-hunters crawls out of the woodwork.
We have all seen it, back in the day when I was much younger, it was the Southern Reds, nowadays as London establishes itself as a rival to Manchester as a footballing powerhouse, it’s Northern Blues.
However, even your most ardent virtue-signalling glory-hunter would have to travel far to eclipse the sheer hypocrisy of Paul Mason.
The lefty journalist penned a piece in The Guardian with the following headline:
In the piece, Mr Mason says:
“Beyond sport, in large swathes of public life, there is almost no requirement whatsoever for an English person to self-identify as English. And that is because – as for no other nation on these islands – what it means to be English is surbordinate to class, region, ethnicity and local culture”
So, what were you doing last night when England nixed their penalty curse against Columbia? The picture below was taken from Mr Masons Twitter feed:
Is that a picture of you celebrating your English ‘surbordination’ Paul? Please do get in touch as we at Politicalite and I am sure our readers as well are desperate to find out the answer.
