CANADIAN Prime Minister Justin Trudeau caused mass hilarity worldwide this week, when he interrupted a student who referred to people as “Mankind.”
A woman called Aimee was asking a question directed at Mr Trudeau about policies on religious charities when she said: “We came here today to ask you to also look into the policies that religious charitable organisations have in our legislation so that it can also be changed, because maternal love is the love that’s going to change the future of mankind.”
The social justice warrior in chief then interrupted her and waved his (left) hand and said: “We like to say ‘peoplekind’. Not necessarily mankind, because it’s more inclusive. We can all learn from each other.”
The world put its gender-neutral hand over its face and cried out… “Enough of this sh*t already!”
Even Canadian MP’s cringed in awe and one wrote on Twitter…
The Canadian Globe and Mail reports that Trudeau is now spinning that the ridiculous remark was an attempt at humour that backfired.
“I made a dumb joke a few days ago that seems to have gone a little viral in the room on the ‘peoplekind’ comment,” Trudeau said without being prompted by reporters.
“It played well in the room and in context. Out of context, it doesn’t play so well,” he added.
“It’s a little reminder to me that I shouldn’t be making jokes even when I think they’re funny.”
