IN-DEPTH: Will the Casino Market in the UK Continue to Grow?

THE PANDEMIC spelled disaster for most industries, and the gambling industry was certainly no exception – with land-based venues everywhere having to temporarily shut their doors to the public and losing huge amounts of revenue.

Their online counterparts, however, thrived as people stuck at home grew hungry for entertainment. Since then, online casino platforms have been on a roll, even as we returned to our workplaces and venues reopened. But will this growth in the gambling market continue into the new year?

Gambling Laws in the UK – and What Gamblers Should Look Out For

Before being able to analyze whether the casino market will grow further in the UK, we’ll briefly rehash the current gambling laws of our country and the most common dangers in the industry for consumers. UK gambling laws state that gambling at casinos and similar venues, in general, is legal – with the exception that people under the age of 18 are not allowed to gamble. The age limit has to do with the UK being more protective of the young. Studies have shown that many young people indulge in casino games, which can be quite dangerous, since these games, if not played responsibly, can be addictive. So, to be able to manage and avoid potential gambling addictions, the age limit is taken very seriously.

However, even if you are over the age of 18, you should still be careful if you’re considering trying one of the many casinos out there. There are many illegal online casinos, and consumers must keep an eye out to avoid accidentally choosing one of these – and read the terms and conditions before playing to be sure. Guide sites such as CasinoHawks are great resources for this. Besides teaching you how to get the best top reload bonuses in 2023, it also provides you with a guide on what to look for before playing – to make sure that when you’re gambling online, the bonuses that are supposed to help you save money don’t backfire and end up costing you instead. Sites like these help consumers navigate the gambling market and make them feel safer when playing. So, the more transparent the industry becomes, the better the chances of seeing industry growth are.

For Now, the UK Gambling Market Continues to Grow

In general, Britons are still very excited about playing all sorts of casino games. This is evident in the growth of the casino market, with statistics showing that we continue to play more and more. Thanks to online casino platforms, the market continued to grow through the pandemic, with an increase in the number of users joining, number of bets made, and amount of games being played in general. While it did stop for a while after most people were back at work and school, 2022 brought yet another increase in gambling. So, as of right now, it’s safe to say that the market is still experiencing growth.

However, the question that remains is: Will the casino market in the UK continue to grow? It can be argued that the market does currently have the upper hand, if you look at how much consumers currently enjoy gambling. But whether this growth continues isn’t necessarily set in stone.

The economy has been struggling recently, making people prioritize differently than usual. If this development continues, more people will be willing to stop gambling to be able to pay for rent, food, etc. For now, though, the gambling market in the UK is still experiencing an increase – but who knows what the future will bring.
