LOVE Island star Chris Hughes appeared to slam the Mainstream media for insensitive reporting on the death of Mike Thalassitis who has died at the young age of 26.
The Sun and Daily Mail were among multiple outlets that reported that “Muggy Mike” was dead. The Sun, used “MUGGY MIKE DEAD”.
Mike, earned the infamous name “Muggy Mike” from Chris Hughes after he stole Olivia from Hughes on the ITV2 show.
Hughes hit Twitter to slam newspapers such as The Sun and the Daily Mail for using “Muggy Mike” in headlines.
Fans also slammed the outlets and so Hughes bravely took to Twitter to set the record straight, despite being in shock at the news of the death of his friend.
Mike aged just 26 was found dead in woodland near his Essex home yesterday.
Mike, shot to fame in 2017 on the smash-hit ITV2 reality show.
Born in Edmonton, the Cypriot was a semi-pro footballer and played for clubs including St Albans and Chelmsford and was signed to Welling United.
Reality stars paid tribute taking to social media.
Kem Cetinay, who won the series Mike was on, tweeted: ‘Such heartbreaking news. My thoughts go out to all of Mikes friends and family.’ 2018 islander Alex George tweeted: ‘Devastated to hear of the passing of Mike Thalassitis. My heart goes out to friends and family’, while Mario Falcone called the news ‘heartbreaking’.
Former TOWIE star Michael J Norcross wrote “Unbelievable shocking news to hear about Mike Thalassitis passing, so young. Our thoughts and prayers are now with his family and friends. RIP Mike.”
