ALISON Hammond is “thrilled” to be joining ‘The Great British Bake Off.’
The 48-year-old TV star will take over presenting duties from Matt Lucas and will co-host the Channel 4 competition alongside Noel Fielding when it returns to screens later this year and made the announcement with a video depicting herself, Noel as well as judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith as figurines on a cake.

Speaking to her inanimate cake model in the humorous video posted to Twitter, she said: “So yes, it’s breaking news. Alison Hammond is joining the team of ‘The Great British Bake Off.’ Alison, have you got any words whatsoever?
“‘Well, do you know what, I’m just absolutely thrilled. I’m joining The Great British Bake Off and as you can see, all my colleagues are just speechless. We’re just speechless! We’re so, so very happy and we just can’t wait to get started!’”
Alison captioned the post: “It’s Official!! It’s happening The Great British Bake off ! let’s have it – The cake that is 🤣 so excited @BritishBakeOff @Channel4 @PrueLeith @PaulHollywood @noelfielding11 #GBBO”(sic)

The ‘This Morning’ host – who shot to fame when she appeared on ‘Big Brother’ in 2002 but was the second person to be evicted from the famous house – previously competed on the celebrity version of the show in 2020 alongside James Blunt, Joe Sugg and Alex Jones and the news comes just hours after an insider promised she would bring “warmth and humour” to the programme.
The source said: “Alison is a great choice. She will bring warmth and humour to the tent in spades. We’re laughing just thinking about it.”
