PETER Kay joined the coalition of celebrities and entertainers publicly backing LGBTQ people amid a growing global campaign highlighting human rights and anti-Gay abuses in Qatar amid the World Cup, Politicalite can exclusively reveal.
Before his launch at the AO Arena in Manchester last night, our insider snapped the stage displayed prominent rainbow messages with the words “Peter Gay Live” – showing a funny, simple and effective sign of solidarity among Western freedom loving entertainers and nations pushing for change on the issue of LGBTQ rights.

He’s joined the likes of Dua Lipa, comedian Joe Lycett and England player Conor Coady who have publicly stood up against homophobia and anti-gay laws in Qatar – who are hosting the World Cup.

Kay, who was later moved to tears as he was given a standing ovation at the start of his first tour for 12 years made his first major statement on politics, as more stars and celebrities start to use their platforms and power to fight for those still not given the freedom to be gay or love who they love in Middle Eastern, predominantly Muslim countries.
The crowd chanted his name as he took to the stage at Manchester’s AO arena.
He had to compose himself before telling fans: “How am I supposed to do comedy now? You’ll have me in bits… I can’t believe you made me cry.”
It was the first of 110 arena dates that the Bolton star will perform over the next two-and-a-half years.”

“He had been due to go on tour in 2017, but cancelled that due to “unforeseen family circumstances”.
COMEBACK COMEDY KING

PETER Kay announced his return to stand-up comedy with his first live tour in 12 years at the start of November.
The 49-year-old comedian, who has been largely absent from the public eye for the last four years, will embark on an arena tour spanning from this December to August 2023.
It will be his first live tour since 2010, when he scored the Guinness World Record for the biggest selling run of all time, playing to more than 1.2 million people.
His comeback was announced during an advertisement break in the series launch of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! on ITV.
He said: “It’s good to get back to what I love doing best, stand-up comedy, and if there’s ever a time people need a laugh it’s now.
“And with the cost of living at an all-time high, ticket prices are starting from £35 – the same price they were on my previous tour in 2010.”
Kay will begin his tour on December 2 at the Manchester AO Arena before visiting locations including Birmingham, Liverpool, Sheffield, Belfast, Newcastle, Glasgow and Dublin.
His run will end on August 11 2023 at the Sheffield Utilita Arena.
Following the announcement, Kay’s official website appeared to crash briefly under increased online traffic.
