The simmering discontent amoung Tory grassroots activists is quickly reaching boiling point.
Local Council chiefs are warning that the embattled Party will go into total meltdown when voters go to the polls on May 2nd and Tory members that have yet to shred their membership cards are threatening to refuse to campaign in a Euro Election campaign.
The Chairman of the Conservative London East Area, Dinah Glover said:
“They just don’t have that commitment – they’re just not going to put weeks of their lives on hold to campaign for something they don’t believe in.
“Going out to campaign would be giving a very literal example of the fact that we are still in the EU.
“It’s not sustainable. The mood is not good and not positive.
“The deadline for leaving the EU has been extended and the message that sends out is appalling.
“It just shows democracy has failed.”
Another senior figure is quotes as saying:
A lot of Tory activists are going to be on strike.
“They’re not going to go and fight the European elections.
“It’s another nail in the coffin of the Tory party.”
Who can really blame them? Ontop of the Brexit betrayal when they vote to deselect recalcitrant Remoaner MPs, like Dominic Grieve, the Prime Minister simply ignores them and pretends they don’t exist.
