With the European Elections looming into view, Marine Le Pen has made an explicit appeal to France’s Yellow Vest movement.
Following the news that an extended Elysée Treaty, which will strengthen Paris and Berlin’s cooperation in foreign affairs, defence, external and internal security, and also boost the EU’s defence and security capabilities, will be signed by Mr Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel in the coming weeks Mrs Le Pen blasted the French President for “selling France’s sovereignty”.
She told supporters of her National Rally Party gathered in Paris that the European Union is a “menace” to the “security and identity” of France and that the Yellow Vest movement is a “healthy popular revolt”.
It is time for Emmanuel Macron to dissolve Parliament she said:
“If Macron does not have the wisdom to go back to the people by dissolving parliament, then let the political arbitrage come from European elections”.
The stage is certainly set for the Euro Elections to be a fierce battle between the two trends in European politics….
