EUROPEAN Union bosses are trying to thwart Britain’s vaccine effort, by blocking exports of the life-saving vaccine.
Britain is leading the way and has vaccinated more people than the EU combined, and our jelous scorned ex trading partner is now fighting dirty to save face.
Former Tory party leader and Tory MP Iain Duncan Smith branded the move as ‘atrocious’ and MPs branded the EU “mean-spirited and selfish”.
The Sun reports that the EU could block 25 million doses of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine under the EU’s proposed export ban.
The EU’s health minister said the bloc will take ‘any action required’ to help their failing vaxx programme.
“In the future, all companies producing vaccines against Covid-19 in the EU will have to provide early notification whenever they want to export vaccines to third countries.”
“Humanitarian deliveries are of course not affected by this.”
“The European Union will take any action required to protect its citizens and rights.”
German Health Minister Jens Spahn added: “We, as the EU, must be able to know whether and what vaccines are being exported from the EU.”
“Only that way can we understand whether our EU contracts with the producers are being served fairly.
“An obligation to get approval for vaccine exports on the EU level makes sense.”
The EU is angry after AstraZeneca cut the number of vaccines it is sending to the bloc, but did not slash British supplies.
