The possible acceptance of the UN Migration Pact has brought a crisis in the Belgian government. While Prime Minister Charles Michel wants to sign the document next week, the country’s largest party is opposed to it.
For Bart de Wever, the leader of the New-Flemish Alliance (N-VA) the UN Migration Pact is unacceptable, but the other government parties support it.
“It’s non-binding, but will that serve as an argument in court? The fact that the EU is no longer pursuing push back policies on refugees is the result of a court decision, not a political one,” De Wever said.
