Marco Zanni, an MEP for Matteo Salvini’s Lega Party has told Hungarian paper Magyar Hirlap that bureaucrats in Brussels are the real fascists who attack politicians who want a hard-line taken against mass migration. European elites are “worried” that politicians such as Salvini and Viktor Orbán who enjoy popular support for their anti-migration stance will succeed in changing European policy on a continent-wide basis:
“They are afraid of losing their majority in the EU institutions. That is why leaders, governments, who are demanding a drastic turn in immigration policy at EU level are being attacked.”
He revealed that Salvini was seeking “deep changes” in three policy areas; migration, internal security and economic development. Salvini wants European nations to do less but better together. Nation states will be “respected” again and “uniform solutions” will no longer be imposed on democratically elected national governments.
Brussels wants to “tell people what to do”, Zanni insisted:
“There is always fascist in Brussels, but here are the real fascists! They do not respect democracy, the elected governments.”
Despite facing strong opposition from the Soros backed campaign against populism, Zanni ends on an optimistic tone saying there is “light at the end of the tunnel”, possibly as soon as May, if Salvini’s ENF can pull off a historic victory in the European Elections.
