A SAINSBURY’S Key Worker in Manchester has won the hearts of the British public on Twitter after raising money for a colleague who was mugged on the way home from work.
Liam Mason was determined to cheer up his friend and colleague Tommy, 29 – who also has autism – after an attack left him struggling to eat with injures to his face.
He raised over £400 via a Crowdfund and also surprised his friend Tommy with a Manchester United shirt.
The surprise has won praise from the likes of Callum Best and Only Fools and Horses actor John Challis and a video of Liam surprising Tommy with the money and gifts has gained over 1.1m views on Twitter in just 24 hours.
“As some of you on here already know a lad I work with who has autism was mugged on Monday.” Liam wrote on Twitter.
As some of you on here already know a lad I work with who has autism was mugged on Monday. We managed to get a whip round on the go and raised over £400! Thank you to everybody who donated and passed on their best on here. He doesn’t show his emotions very well but he’s buzzing pic.twitter.com/WEx2qQx049

“He was really down all week and they’d left a mark on his face. His lip was bust and was struggling to eat so id be damned before helping him.”
“I couldn’t have done it alone too and a massive chunk of credit has to go to each and every individual who donated.”
“I’m so thankful to everybody.”
Tommy told Liam over WhatsApp: “I’ve not even watched United cos i’m over the moon”
“I did not expect any of it”
Liam also joked in the video: “The reason I put it on a gift card is, so you cant spend it on brasses and gambling!”
The heroic deed did not go unnoticed either… celebs such as Callum Best and Only Fools and Horses actor John Challis have praised the British hero.
Well done Liam! My best regards to your friend.” said John who played Boycie in Only Fools.
Well done Liam! My best regards to your friend.
