ONE Thousand #FreeTommy supporters arrived and the stage was set outside London’s Old Bailey in preparation for the trial of activist Tommy Robinson.
His supporters chanted “We Want Tommy Out’ and ‘Ohh Tommy Tommy’ in scenes that have been described as “electric” by an eyewitness, and that was before the activist arrived.
Mr Robinson faced a return to jail as he was re-tried for reporting on the case of a Muslim grooming gang in Leeds – it was yet again delayed by the judge and referred Attorney General – something Mr Robisnon and his team wanted according to sources.
As Robinson arrived at The Old Bailey – which sees the most serious cases in the land – the Activist gave a rousing speech outside the courthouse where he slammed the mainstream media and accused them of failing to report on the issues facing working-class communities across Britain.
He attacked the Establishment; “Their attempts to silence and stop people having the knowledge of the Muslim rape gangs that are terrorising our nation.”
He blamed the Government, police and social services for “sacrificing a generation of our daughters at the hands of the multiculturalism alter”.
He said: “You try to portray that I am hated … but YOU are hated!”
“You knew what was happening to those girls in all of those towns and cities and you said nothing.”
Tommy went on: “None of you has reported the fact that three other journalists broke the same reporting restrictions that I was imprisoned for the same weekend.” Mr Robinson was released from prison in August.
His original sentence for reporting outside the trial of a Muslim grooming gang outside Leeds Crown Court in Yorkshire was quashed earlier this year at the Court of Appeal.
Tommy said before his trial on Tuesday: “I sacked my solicitors because they tried to broker a deal where I apologise and I admit guilt, and then if I do that then I go home.
“And I said, I’m never going to do that.”
“I’d rather go to jail for the next 25 years than accept guilt for telling the truth.”
He said he expected to be jailed for two years today and said that he was “being prosecuted because I’m Tommy Robinson, nothing else”.
A huge police operation was put in place around the Old Bailey as thousands of his supporters arrived.
Veterans Activist RB Inman said: “It’s an absolute travesty that he’s even been charged with anything.”
“Tommy should be going into the gates of Buckingham Palace today and getting a knighthood not going to the Old Bailey and possibly getting a prison sentence.”
He added: “I don’t believe for a minute its anything to do with contempt, he’s a thorn in the side of the Establishment and they wanna get rid of him.”
