TURNING Point UK, a supposed conservative student group has found itself in hot water after defending self-proclaimed communist Ash Sarkar of the far-left Novara Media on Twitter.
The strange move came after a Twitter spat between Sarkar and the prominent right-wing TalkRadio host Mike Graham. After Graham joked about her needing a ‘razor’, Sarkar was clearly triggered, claiming that she was suffering ‘abuse’ and asked whether such mere banter violated TalkRadio’s terms of service (cancel culture, much?).
In light of this, Turning Point UK came on Sarkar’s side, defending her civility with them, and that people like Graham shouldn’t make things ‘personal’. They also quoted former Conservative Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher to boot.
Many criticised the group for this, with one user claiming they were ‘lame’, another calling them ‘grifters’ and another claiming that ‘You don’t disagree with her, you’re ultimately on the same side’. Grifter Watch UK a new right-wing watchdog on Twitter whose main goal is to call ‘out the fakes in right-leaning British politics’) heavily criticised the group as well.
This comes in light of the American emphasis of the group that is headed by Charlie Kirk being similarly criticised for not defending social conservatism, particularly on issues like immigration. This has culminated in the so-called ‘Groyper War’.
