EX-SCOTTISH Labour Leader Kezia Dugdale is facing CRITTER-cism for abandoning her constituents to join the all-star line-up on ITV’s smash hit reality show, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
The Sun reported yesterday that the former Labour leader was heading down-under as a late entrant and will fly to Australia THIS WEEK to join the cast that includes Boris Johnson’s dad – Stanley Johnson.
The Scottish MSP for the Lothian region was the Leader of the Scottish Labour Party from August 2015 until her resignation on August 2017.
CORBYN: “IT’S HER CHOICE”
The Lesbian MSP is in a relationship with fellow Scottish MSP – Jenny Gilreath, who plays for the SNP.
Newly elected Labour leader, Richard Leonard was quizzed about Dugdale’s appearance on the ITV show and was asked whether Ms Dugdale would face suspension.
He said he was “a bit disappointed” in her decision but admitted suspension hadn’t been his first thought.
“I awoke as many other people did this morning to the news that Kezia is going into that programme, and I think that is something the group is going to have to consider over the next few days and I think we will consider,” he said.
Jeremy Corbyn said: “It’s her choice to go on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!, I don’t think it’s appropriate to suspend someone from the party for doing that, that’s her choice.”
But not all politicians were as supportive as Jez.
Jenny Marra, a fellow Scottish MSP, tweeted: “Election to parliament is a privilege to serve and represent people. It’s not a shortcut to celebrity.”
Kezia is not the first serving politician to enter the Aussie jungle. In 2012, Tory MP, Nadine Dorries, appeared on the hit-ITV show and was suspended by The Conservative Party.
TOFF-LOW: BOJO DAD “A BIT OF A DINOSAUR”
BORIS JOHNSON’S DAD – who is the second Political figure to be appearing on I’m A Celeb, has been described as “a bit of a dinosaur” by fellow campmates after he leered at fellow contestant and Made In Chelsea star, Georgia Toffolo, 22.
Sources backstage on the ITV show said that Stanley, 77 “Couldn’t take his eyes off her”
A member of the crew said that “Stanley made a bit of a beeline for Georgia but his approach is from another era”
Speaking to The Sun, the unnamed source said that “What he thinks is charming struck a few of the others as a bit leery, he’ll have to be careful” He certainly will – especially with the latest season of Pestminster Sex Scandals.
Speaking to the press, Stanley said: “he would back his son to the hilt on the show if any campmates lash out.”
