Crime continues to ravage London and Mr Khan has been accused of misleading the public by a cross-party committee of Assembly Members over delays to the Crossrail project. Sounds like Khan has plenty on his plate with barely a second to spare for anything other than devoting himself entirely to salvaging his crumbling Mayoralty right?
WRONG. London’s part-time Mayor, full-time showman has managed to find time to squeeze in a weeks worth of jury service. Unsurprisingly, he received a barrage of criticism from political opponents.
Tory MP Marcus Fysh expressed “surprise” that Mr Khan was taking time out. His colleague, Andrew Bridgen accused him of simply “running away” from London’s problems. He is, said Mr Bridgen, “not Boris Johnson” who successfully reduced crime after a concerted effort.
Responding to the critcism, the Mayors Office argued that the service was compulsory and that Mr Khan had been at City Hall every day of the week despite serving as a juror.
