TERROR gripped Blackpool last night as a car ploughed through pedestrians in the town’s main clubbing district injuring three people.
All bars and clubs in the area were put on “lockdown” at around 11.50pm last night as a motorist in a silver car mowed people down close to Strand, Talbot Square and the Promenade.
One local Hotel owner, LJ Seel wrote on Facebook: “Blackpool! Alert! Reports in of ALL bars on lockdown, a motorist in a silver car reportedly mowing people down. All bars closed for safety”
Blackpool Police released a statement and said: “Our officers in Blackpool are investigating an incident in which a car has collided with a number of pedestrians in the town centre. “
Later, the Police revealed that the incident was not Terror related and that the suspect vehicle had been located and recovered.”
“Blackpool, we have arrested a 19-year-old man from West Yorkshire on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink or drugs, dangerous driving and causing grievous bodily harm.”
Mr Seel added: “Well done to the Police on the lockdown, thankfully not terrorists but a p****d up ejected reveller who took revenge on innocent members of the public.”
