MULTIPLE people have been injured in an apparent terrorist incident in South London with the suspect being shot dead by Police.
A man wielding a machete stabbed multiple civilians on Streatham High Road.
Two people are reported to have been injured with the Met saying: “There are two injured victims. We await updates on their conditions. “The scene has been fully contained.”
The Metropolitan Police said in a statement: ” A man has been shot by armed officers in Streatham.”
“At this stage it is believed a number of people have been stabbed.”
“The circumstances are being assessed; the incident has been declared as terrorist-related.”
One local revealed on Twitter: “My sister was in #Streatham, heard gunshots, she couldn’t get home as the police shut the road down, she’s currently bunkering down in a pub”
Prime Minister Boris Johnson said in a statement: “Thank you to all emergency services responding to the incident in Streatham, which the police have now declared as terrorism-related. My thoughts are with the injured and all those affected.”
Bell Ribeiro-Addy who is the local MP said: “Very concerned to hear about the incident on Streatham High St. My thoughts are with those injured, their families and those who witnessed the attack.”
“The police have declared this as terrorist -related. Please avoid the area whilst emergency services continue to do their work”
