SILVERBURN shopping centre has been EVACUATED following reports of customers coughing due to a reported chemical spill.
Hundreds of customers have been rushed out of the shops and restaurants while specialist teams are at the scene of Glasgow’s Silverburn Shopping Centre.
The Mirror reports that the alarm was raised at 12.34pm and an environmental protection unit has been pictured outside the centre in Pollock.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We are currently dealing with reports of a chemical spill at the Silverburn shopping centre in Glasgow.
“We were called to the scene at 12.34pm.
“Crews remain on site.”
A spokesperson from Silverburn said: “We’ve temporarily evacuated Silverburn as a precautionary measure and the emergency services are in attentence.
“The safety of our customers and is staff is always our number one priority.
“We will keep you updated on the situation.”
