KATE Hoey, Labour MP for Vauxhall, has consistently battled for Brexit and unsurprisingly backed the ERG amendments on Monday night.
Her principled stand on behalf of the will of the British people has attracted a storm of criticism on social media. Even the official account of Vauxhall Labour, which describes itself as “rabidly pro-EU”, stuck the boot in Tweeting a picture of Ms Hoey talking to ERG supporter Steve Baker with sad faces:
I for one wasn’t aware that the act of one MP talking to another was liable to provoke such a strong response. Clearly, the owner of the account doesn’t support its own MP as can be seen below:
Labour Party rules prevent Ms Hoey being deselected, barring outside intervention from the NEC on disciplinary charges, until she has declared her attention to restand. If she does attempt to restand it looks like she will have a fight on her hands.
