Darci Jackson was a 6 y/o girl who fought a long and heroic battle against leukaemia which she tragically lost in August this year. Her parents set up a GoFundMe page to support Darci. Little did they know that sick fraudsters would clone the page.
They raised £50,000 which went largely unspent due to Darci losing her fight soon after it was set-up. It was hoped that she would be eligible for treatment in America. However, they donated the money to another youngster.
Darci’s Dad however soon spotted another page using his daughters details aimed at raising £5,000. The fake page was reported to GoFundMe and the police and the organiser was banned from the site. Dad Graeme was understandably angry: “I am so angry someone would abuse what we are going through. They are sick – it is like-for-like of our original page”.
Darci’s passing was announced by her parents on a Facebook page: “It is with utter devastation that we have to announce our beautiful baby daughter Darci passed away last night, may her wings fly with the angels.” They spoke of their “utter devastation” in delivering the news and said “our lives are shattered.”
