NORTH Korean leader Kim Jong Un was seen for the first time on North Korean State TV after rumours surrounding his death.
The (North) Korean Central News Agency reported that Mr Kim cut a ribbon at the opening of a fertiliser factory.
KNCA added that North Koreans “broke into thunderous cheers of hurrah” as he appeared for the first time in public on Friday, which is in line with the ‘cult of personality’ propaganda tactics the North Korean regime applies.
The appearance was his first event since April 12th.
It was also rumoured that Mr Kim had “suffered a heart attack” and some said he was in a “vegetative state”.
Hong Kong Satellite TV even claimed Mr Kim had died and fake pictures of Mr Kim lying in state were shared across social media.
President Trump remained tight lipped on the alleged appearance of Mr Kim, adding to even more speculation surrounding the North Korean despots health.
He told a press conference at the White House: “I’d rather not comment on it yet,”
“We’ll have something to say about it at the appropriate time.”
