A TOP Tory MP has blasted bumbling Prime Minister Boris Johnson and claimed that he deliberately waited to announce Tier 4 until after MPs went home for Christmas.
Charles Walker, who is the Vice Chair of the powerful 1922 Committee of Tory backbenchers that has the power to dispose of failed Tory Prime Minister’s said Boris “knew” he was about to cancel Christmas Bubble plans and introduce tougher restrictions on Wednesday, but delayed deliberately.
Number Ten denied the claims last night but Walker told the BBC: “I suspect the Government knew they were going to cancel Christmas on Wednesday and Thursday when they were still telling the House of Commons they planned to press ahead.”
“I think many colleagues find that extremely egregious. The Christmas period was passed into law by the House of Commons in a vote after a debate.”
Walker, who blasted Police for arresting an Anti-Lockdown protester outside Parliament earlier this month added: “The view of most colleagues was that to be changed, another vote would be required in the House of Commons. So I suspect a decision was delayed until we were safely away back to our constituencies.”
“Surely at some stage a senior Government minster has to say ‘I have offered my resignation to the Prime Minister’ and the Prime Minister has to say ‘Sadly I have had to accept it’?””
Health Secretary Matt Hancock is also under fire and many in the Tory party want him gone from Health in the New Year.
Mr Hancock gloated over the weekend and said he and the Government “acted very quickly and decisively” but backbench Tories are said to be fuming and plan all out war in the New year.
Labour leader Keir Starmer also blasted Boris and said: “Millions will be heartbroken by this news, having their Christmas plans ripped up with less than a week’s notice.”
“At this time of national crisis, the British people want clear, decisive leadership. All we get from Boris Johnson is confusion and indecision.”
GREAT Britain… once the roaring lion of the Western world has been reduced to a cowering kitten in the Covid rain and instead of popping up an umbrella and adapting to the change in weather, our weak Prime Minister is hiding in a cardboard box waiting for the rain to pass.
Britain needs a leader that knows what they are doing. A leader who will make a decision and stick to it. Politicalite can no longer support this Prime Minister and we are calling for an Election after Christmas and New Year or a change in leadership… unless Boris Johnson gets Britain moving again.
