FACEBOOK’s mass political censorship continued Monday, as the social media firm ‘banned posts’ from alternative outlet Zero Hedge.
Users across the network reported that they were unable to share links to the site.
Zero Hedge, a source of “cutting-edge news” and has an anti-establishment agenda and is hated by the likes of CNN and was described by Forbes as one of the “Top 17 Value Investing Blogs You Should Be Reading.”
Readers of the popular website reported that they were unable to share links to its articles, and Facebook labelled its content as ‘going against community standards.’
On its website, Zero Hedge said it was “surprised by this action as neither prior to this seemingly arbitrary act of censorship, nor since, were we contacted by Facebook with an explanation of what ‘community standard’ had been violated or what particular filter or article had triggered the blanket rejection of all Zero Hedge content.”
Facebook said that the flagged posts were an ‘error’, but this is not the first time the site has tried to suppress opinion and content.
Yesterday, our own Editor was banned by Facebook for three-days for sharing a quote, that included an image of Tommy Robinson.
The ban came after Politicalite published an article on Facebook censorship, and reported that a page with a reach of 15m had been banned by the site.
Last month, the site disabled the accounts of several high-profile UKIP activists and the Editor of Politicalite, meaning we were unable to update our Facebook page of over 40,000 followers.
UKIP Activist and fellow Kipper Central and Alternative Media voice Reece Coombes slammed the tech giant after the firm banned Tommy Robinson along with several Kippers.
Coombes, 18 said at the time: “All I know is when I logged in today my account had been disabled.”
“It’s not just me, Darrell Goodliffe, Editor of Kipper Central, Jordan James the editor of Politicalite – another pro-Tommy real news website and Carl Pearson of the UK Unity News Network”
“This is a targeted ban on anyone who supports Tommy or has any level of influence of Facebook.”
