A TORY Campaign group in Bolton has attacked a young UKIP candidate who is standing in the upcoming local elections, Politicalite can reveal.
An activist from the Tory-supporting ‘Bolton Clowncil’ campaign group who had been successfully fighting against Bolton’s Labour-run council attacked a young UKIP candidate and vowed to destroy his future political career.
In documents seen by Politicalite, Christopher Banks sent a strongly-worded email to Ryan Wood, 19 and accused the brave young candidate of ‘dividing the vote.’
Banks wrote: “Great to see you planning to divide the vote” and described Wood as ‘moronic.’
He added: “After posting thousands of flyers to Little Lever and Darcy Lever to try and help Sean in his ward by removing the Labour vote, it’s really appreciated ty see UKIP spit in my face.”
Banks vowed to respond with flyers against UKIP for ‘splitting the vote’ and in a sinister threat, added: “If you do the same to my ward, I promise I’ll be following your career for the rest of your life to ensure you get nowhere.”
He then proceeded to accuse Ryan, who is standing in Bolton’s Breightmet Ward on May 2nd, of being linked to the far-right on his Facebook page, despite the fact that Christopher himself was branded a ‘Hatemonger’ by the local Labour party leader just a few weeks ago after he called out council funding to local Mosques.
Banks was accused of being ‘threatened’ by UKIP’s resurgence, as voters are expected to use Brexit to influence their local vote.
The Tories and Labour have turned off thousands of voters, and with Bolton heavily voting to Leave the European Union, it seems local Conservatives are threatened by the thought of a strong UKIP vote in revenge for Theresa May’s Brexit Betrayal.
Speaking to Politicalite Ryan Wood said: “I genuinely wanted a clean campaign, no threats, no lies, no collusion, just a good, positive campaign. If that’s something Bolton Conservatives do not want, then that’s a shame.”
“I will continue to push my message and vision for the town and Breightmet despite this. I want to win this for UKIP”.
We have contacted the Bolton Conservatives for comment.
