MATT Hancock has been replaced by Sajid Javid MP as Health Secretary.
The former Chancellor of the Exchequer and MP for Bromsgrove is a strong and stable minister who previously served as Home Secretary from 2018 to 2019.
His appointment came as disgraced Matt Hancock resigned after an affair with a top Department of Health aide.
Mr Hancock quit on Saturday and admitted he “let down” millions of Brits who had made sacrifices during the COVID-19 crisis.
“I want to reiterate my apology for breaking the guidance, and apologise to my family and loved ones for putting them through this.” he said.
“I also need to be with my children at this time.”
“We have worked so hard as a country to fight the pandemic,” Hancock said in the letter.
“The last thing I would want is for my private life to distract attention from the single-minded focus that is leading us out of this crisis.” added Hancock.
The Prime Minister said Mr Hancock “should leave office very proud of what you have achieved – not just in tackling the pandemic, but even before Covid-19 struck us”.
Boris has been branded “spineless” for supporting Hancock.
