UKIP MEP Patrick O’ Flynn has defended Boris Johnson from a sustained attack by the political establishment led by its lefty choirboy Owen Jones.
O’ Flynn appeared on the BBCs Radio Five Live and after tweeting about his appearance was branded “absurd” by Jones. He said that “people should have the right to wear what they like” seemingly oblivious to the fact that Muslim women can scaracely be said to have a free choice in weather they wear the Burka or not.
O’ Flynn tersely replied “tell that to the naked rambler.” He told the BBC that the “political establishment” want to “do Boris in”: “They are waiting for every newspaper column they are trying to spin up issues against him because they know that he is the one person who is a threat to their effort to sell-out Brexit.”
He carried on to say that Boris was widely recognised as the only person who can deliver the Brexit people voted for. Boris has faced a barrage of criticism for comparing the Burka to a letterbox including from the Prime Minister.
She backed calls from the Conservative Party Chairman, Brandon Lewis, for Johnson to apologise. However, the former Foreign Secretary who resigned from the Cabinet over Theresa May’s Chequers sell-out has so far resisted calls to apologise and opinion polling shows a clear majority of the British public in favour of banning the Burka which has been widely banned across Europe, most recently in Denmark.
