The Donald is standing firm despite some Democrats trying to exploit the current government shutdown to once again make the threat of impeaching the President. He asked them a simple question on Twitter:
How do you impeach a president who has won perhaps the greatest election of all time, done nothing wrong (no Collusion with Russia, it was the Dems that Colluded), had the most successful first two years of any president, and is the most popular Republican in party history 93%?
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 4, 2019
In another tweet aimed at his opponents he accused the Democrats of only wanting to impeach him because they know they cannot win in 2020 as he has had “too many successes” as President. He went onto warn that if the Democrats were to take over the Senate and therefore control the whole of Congress it would cause “severe disruption” to the financial markets.
Democrats continue to refuse Trumps request for funding for the wall along the US border with Mexico, a key campaign pledge Trump made in 2016. The shutdown may last ‘years’ according to the President, however, talks were expected to resume later today aimed at resolving the impasse.
