A DOG was branded as a racist by Met Police after pooing outside someone’s house, according to reports.
The fowl incident was recorded as a “racist hate crime” by officers.
A FOI request by the Mail on Sunday resulted in the disclosure of over 2,500 “hate incidents” that were recorded by the Metropolitan Police between 2015 and 2016. Police regulations require any call or complaint that reports an event potentially motivated by hatred to be recorded as a hate incident, even if no crime was committed. The records revealed, therefore, make for rather interesting reading.
In the document, the racist dog incident involved a call from someone who complained that an “unknown dog has fouled outside of [their] address” and perceived it to be racially motivated. Another racist dog was logged as having “barked at [the] victim” in question.
Sporting events seemed to be hotbeds of racism, according to the document. A swimming teacher was reported by a pupil for “faith-based abuse,” and at a tennis match, a father accused the umpire of repeatedly making calls against his daughter due to racism, causing her to lose.
Many of the recorded incidents were related to parking disputes or car crashes – one woman alleged that the reason an unknown person had reversed into her car was because she had a poppy on the front of it. Another man claimed he was “targeted for being black” when his neighbours repeatedly parked outside of his house.
