GLADIATORS is on the hunt for new contestants as the iconic 90s show gets a prime-time reboot later this year.
Speaking to Politicalite earlier this month, Show producers revealed: “One of the most exciting and energetic sports entertainment gameshows ever, GLADIATORS will be returning to TV in its brand-new home on the BBC.”
“The much-loved Saturday night staple will be back with a brand-new generation of superhuman Gladiators who will compete against a brave set of contenders in the ultimate test of speed and strength.”
“We are searching the UK for potential CONTENDERS who have the speed and the skill to take on the mighty new Gladiators.” they added.
TV industry magazine Broadcast reported last year that the Beeb was lining up the reboot with filming planned for Sheffield Arena in 2023.
The project has been in development for some time and the production team has already selected athletes that will star as Gladiators.
The original series ran on ITV from Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena fronted by Ulrika Jonsson from 1992 to 2000.
